Ron Howard’s movie about Thai cave rescue is coming soon
In the summer of 2018, the world has been grasped by the story unfolding in Thailand when a men’s soccer team became trapped deep in the Tham Luang cave during a downpour. The rescue mission brought together the most experienced and skilled divers on the planet, along with 10,000 volunteers, in an epic effort to bring the boys alive.
The world breathed a sigh of relief when all 12 boys and their coach were rescued after the 18-day ordeal (although Two Thai navies lost their livesone person during surgery and another with a related blood infection), and then everyone was of the same opinion: This wouldn’t make for a great movie would it? Well, people, almost exactly four years later, it is: Thirteen LivesDirected by Ron Howard.
It stars Viggo Mortensen, Colin Farrell and Joel Edgerton as cave divers Richard Stanton, John Volanthen and Richard Harris, who starred in the rescue, as well as Thai actors Weir Sukollawat Kanaros , James Teeradon Supapunpinyo and Vithaya Pansringarm. The film hits theaters tomorrow (July 29) and opens globally on Amazon Prime Video on August 5. Essential view for all divers!
