Croatia-based Rimac acquired a controlling stake in Bugatti in July 2021. While some worry that this tie-up will lead to badge engineering, the company has confirmed that the Chiron’s successor will not be merely an existing EV wearing a luxury French suit.
“The easiest thing for us is to get Nevera, put the Bugatti logo on it and called it a date, but I objected to that. I am one tram but a Bugatti should still have an internal combustion engine for a while,” explains company founder Mate Rimac. European Automotive News.

Considering the brand, the customer and the technology available, I think we are developing the best possible solution for Bugatti, which is a non-electric vehicle today. That will be one day, but not today,” Rimac continued.
While he stopped short of providing technical details, “strongly electrified” and “very attractive internal combustion engine” are statements that confirm the Chiron’s successor will land in a jet. mixture powertrain system.
