It’s strange to think that both sides of politics are leading us into a policy-free federal election campaign at a time when we have so many issues we should be debating. Not that the parties will not Yes policies are written on a piece of paper somewhere, but they don’t want to talk about them.

Why not? Because any policy you propose could be used by your opponents to spread scare stories about your intentions. Last time, for example, Scott Morrison used Labor’s support of the tram to announce it would be demolished by the end of the week.

Gas has been in decline as part of Australia’s electricity supply since 2014, and this is likely to continue. “Gas will play an important role in electricity generation when the sun is not shining and the wind is not blowing – but this role will not require large amounts of gas.”

In the home, people value being able to choose between gas and electricity for cooking and heating, but this cannot continue. They will save money and reduce emissions when all new homes are electric.

“The uncomfortable truth is that natural gas is more likely to suffer declines in Australia, and hitting the net zero target requires that to happen… Attempts to contain the upside through interventions directly into the market, such as is expected in [Morrison’s] The National Gas Infrastructure Plan, will likely require ongoing subsidies at great expense to taxpayers. ”

I have suffered three power outages in the past decade, one of which lasted a week. I was able to keep the freezer, fan, electric lights and TV in place along with the gas generator. However, electric stoves consume more power than freezers and fans, which is why they are often permanently wired to household power, to reduce the risk of accidents.

Most gas stoves only continue to operate if the power is out. Perhaps you need matches if your kitchen lighting requires electricity.

Of course, some green people have foresaw this rush to credibility – California is banning gasoline-powered emergency equipment, including generators, because, you know, the government is responsible for your energy consumption. People should be satisfied with what PG&E offers, if and when it offers, right? / Fleer
