Chery Malaysia builds its own CKD factory in Shah Alam, ready in the third quarter of 2024 – Inokom Kulim assembly continues
Chery, the fastest growing auto brand in Malaysia, is building its own factory in the country. Located in Shah Alam, Selangor, the greenfield development is expected to be ready in the third quarter of 2024.
This was revealed by Chery Malaysia. paultan.org at the brand’s headquarters in Wuhu, where the Chery 2024 International Business Conference event is being held for dealers and the media.
Currently, Chery’s CKD local meeting took place at Inokom in Kulim. Two car models launched from the Kedah factory are Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro. That facility is shared with other brands and additional capacity is being negotiated, but it will take some time to materialize.
Chery Malaysia tells us that due to good demand for its models, production is now running at full capacity in Kulim and the upcoming Shah Alam plant will complement, not replace, production. Made in Kulim.
Chery Shah Alam will also launch upcoming models for the Malaysian market, which may include Entry-level model ‘My first Chery’. Chery’s Jaecoo brand also ready a CKD J7 SUV.
