Riakporhe can challenge Makabu for the WBC cruiser belt
Richard Riakporhe could be set to take on WBC Cruiser Class Champion Ilunga Makabu.
Boxxer advertiser Ben Shalom told Sports sky that he will be speaking to the title holder’s promoter Don King this week.
“He wanted that WBC belt,” Shalom said.
“We talked about this for a while. That’s what Richard wanted. I even said to Richard, ‘Do you want another one [bout]? ‘ He wants the next world title.
“He is now 32 years old. He feels like he’s been through every level and I think people know he’s ready, they can see that he’s ready and now it’s just about fighting. “
Riakporhe has been in terrible form lately and his recent wins Fabio Turchi saw him jump ten places to second and become the top-ranked contender with the IBF. Ironically, he has dropped one spot with WBC and is now eighth in their rankings.
Second and eighth wins over Fabio Turchi and Deion Jumah demonstrated Riakporhe’s explosive power and proof that he can be a real threat to world champions at 200lbs.
