Speaking about the triple fight between Saul ‘Canelo’ Álvarez and Gennady Golovkin, Eddie Hearn emphasized the pressure on the Mexican boxer’s shoulders.
Canelo’s last match was an unsuccessful attempt at the WBA light-heavyweight belt. It was the biggest weight jump of a sublime career for the Mexicans, and proved too much tonight.
Bivol took control of the fight and won by unanimous decision. In a prior agreement with DAZN, Canelo’s next fight was made – a third with Golovkin. The promoter of the event believes the recent loss makes it all the more appealing.

“Honestly, the successive defeats for Canelo Álvarez, was a disaster. Before [Bivol] Combat has an air of invincibility around Canelo Álvarez, where it’s like he can’t be defeated. And now, everyone is [I think Triple G might do this.]”

Of course, it’s not just the Bivol loss that will spur Canelo to win. This Saturday’s battle trilogy marks the end of a bitter and The controversial rivalry between him and ‘Triple G’ – an event that started back in 2017.
The pair fought for a draw, but many in the boxing world thought Golovkin deserved to win. A rematch in a year saw Álvarez claim victory by majority decision, again, some upset that Golovkin was overrated by the umpires.
Since then, the pair have dominated in their divisions, with the feeling that a third fight is inevitable. It was, and it will shut down Saturday in Las Vegas on DAZN PPV.
