Andrew Cain says Liam Davies is “shaken” in his presence
Andrew Cain grew tired of hearing the name Liam Davies.
The two super-weights were scheduled to meet last month but Cain was facing Pablo Ariel Gomez after Davies withdrew due to injury.
Davies was placed on the communication task during weighing. Queensbury’s Dev Sahni brought the two together after Cain reached balance and Liverpudlian didn’t want to trade happily with his opponent.
“What do you want me to do? Have a nice friendly chat with my friends? I think they’re trying to provoke me into doing something, but I just keep a good and calm attitude,” Cain said in a press release in Queensbury.
“Instead of rushing over and knocking him down, I just tried to hit him with words. I think he’s confused by my presence anyway, that’s how I feel.
“It would have been a better night if he hadn’t pulled out. It turned out to be a good night, but better beating him to death.”
A standout finish in the first round saw Cain (9-0.8 KOs) win the WBC International Silver at 122lbs and defend it Friday night against Luis Moreno (10-2, 6 KOs). However, the future for owners may lie below.
“These are decisions that we have to make when it happens, but I feel like I will get better and become a bigger man,” he said.
“Whatever the fight, just give me a call and I’ll be there. We want to do what’s best for us and at the moment, I think it’s heavyweight. “
