Virgin Atlantic Flight Club members can now use their points on the Italian flag carrier.
In spite of airline ITA already a member of Sky group (like its predecessor, Alitalia), previously ITA Airways flights could not be booked with partner airlines. However, Virgin Atlantic now becomes the first SkyTeam airline to add ITA Airways bonus flights, such as Regular Miller first report.
The news comes after ITA Airways’ inaugural flight from Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci Airport (FCO) to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) earlier this month. ITA Airways also flies from downtown Rome to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Miami International Airport (MIA), New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Washington, DC’s Dulles International Airport (IAD).
On top of that, there’s some well-deserved rewards space on ITA Airways’ US flights during the first few months of 2024.
Redeem Virgin Atlantic points for ITA Airways flights
Virgin Atlantic has a fixed rate bonus table for ITA Airways flights. When it comes to bonus space, here’s what you can expect to spend on a one-way flight from the United States to Rome:

After submitting this search criteria, you will see the reward space for the week of the desired flight.
Our test searches show more bonus seats in business class than open bonus seats in economy class; however, bonus space is limited on LAX and SFO routes in both cabins.

While taxes and fees are higher on Air France and KLM flights, award rates are significantly cheaper than on ITA Airways flights.
Availability is particularly large on flights from JFK in early 2024. In fact, at the time of this writing, most days in January and February have at least two seats in business class.
