Rattle N Roll Dominate in Derby St. Louis
After a nightmare start that cost him any chance at the Indiana Derby (G3) on July 9, Lucky Seven Stable’s Rattle N Roll dominated the $250,000 St.Louis race presented by FanDuel SportsBook, taking home the 4 1/2 length winner on August 20 at FanDuel Sportsbook and Horse Racing.

3 year old son of Link had trouble getting out of the gate again, got hit hard and had to enter Strong attack The Beginning. Rattle N Roll only one of his eight opponents is defeated by A timer led in an open quarter at: 24.34 and a half-mile in: 48.24. Under regular rider Brian Hernandez Jr., the Rattle N Roll started past the six-track marker and glided the widest of all on the final turn. Moving the extra distance wasn’t important, as the Rattle N Roll spiked audibly on the upper stretch and continued to decelerate, stopping the clock at 1:45.12 for 1/16 mile on the fast track.
War Campaign and Brigadier General completed the trilogy.
Trained by Kenny McPeek, the $4.80 paid Rattle N Roll is a favorite.
Rattle N Roll, last year’s winner of the Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1) contest, applied for his second deposit of the year. Twice starting again, he returned to winning form in the US Derby on July 2 at Churchill Downs.
Keeneland’s September aspiration sale of $210,000 had a 4-1-2 record from 12 starts and earnings of $758,105.
