Damon, a dashing Pittie mix, arrives for care at CARE OF ANIMALS Cincinnati like a lost dog. But despite their best efforts to find his family, no one came to claim him. So, naturally, he was put up for adoption.
Damon has spent months waiting for the perfect forever family to emerge, but that hasn’t happened to him yet.
But since CARE OF ANIMALS Cincinnati As shelters are often endangered, dogs are sometimes rotated into staff offices. This allows them to have space to house more dogs.
“He is living in the behavior office, but they need their space to work with more dogs in need and he has really bonded with Sydney, our foster specialist. So he lived there for a while,” said Ray Anderson, an employee at Cincinnati Animal CARE.
So when Sydney needs to step out of the office to attend a meeting, Damon is left with her own devices. The mischievous dog has done an extremely thorough job of investigating his environment. When he realized that he had easy access to tons of toys, he couldn’t resist. The toy lover has hit the jackpot. One toy turns into another toy, then another toy, then another toy.
He was left alone for less than an hour (45 minutes to be exact). And during that time, Damon was able to play with each toy which was hidden in the office. Some toys are chewed and chewed, while quite a few are torn to pieces.
“I believe the official number of toys destroyed is all of them. The foster home office has a lot of gifts to bring home to our foster family, so he found a lot of fun,” Ray said.
When Sydney returns to her office, it looks like the aftermath of an epic puppy party. Toys were strewn across the room, and tons of toys were crammed indiscriminately on the floor. But Damon was not met with anger or resentment. The staff found it extremely amusing and understood that he was a dog who was just doing what toy-loving dogs do.
“He’s enjoying the time of his life – how can you be angry with that face,” Sydney said.
Soon after, Sydney posted a photo of the after-party on their Facebook page. The sight made their entire staff laugh, so it would certainly bring joy to others as well. People on the internet were extremely amused by the situation and the story went viral. In fact, the story was shared so much that Damon’s original family saw the post and was able to come get him!
What a happy ending for such a fun-loving puppy!
