While Luna’s owner was at work, the clever dog attempted to create what appeared to be a break-in and got the police called.
The 95-pound puppy can open the door by standing on its hind legs and pushing the handle down. When she drops out to rest in the potty, she usually just lets herself right back in!
However, she’s not very good at closing doors behind her.
One day, Luna let herself out on the potty and she turned herself in by opening the back door. No one thought to check the back door to make sure it was locked, so it stayed open while Luna’s owner was working as an ER nurse in Saint Marys, Ohio.
A few hours later, a neighbor noticed the back door was open, and happened to know the owner was at work at the hospital. Assuming worse, the neighbor called the police and explained how there might have been a break-in.
As captured on Ring security footage, you can see police arriving at the house and standing in front of the open door.
Luna’s owner shared with ViralHog that they announce their presence and ask if anyone is in the house. They continued to receive no answer, other than Luna barking at them.
Finally, they entered the house and started looking for it, but only found the dog. Around that time, Luna’s owner received a notification on her phone that someone was in her backyard. Curious, she pulled up her Ring camera and saw the officer stepping back, with the door open!
She said, “My phone then rang, and the dispatcher from the PD let me know what was going on. I said to her, ‘I bet my daughter didn’t lock the back door, and Luna got out on her own or something.’ And she laughed and said, ‘really?’ I said, ‘yes, she does it all the time.’ “
Everyone got out of this situation, and it’s a lesson learned for Luna’s owner!
