The North Star is reportedly taking over Saab’s former manufacturing plant in Trollhattan, Sweden to expand its research and development (R&D) operations in Europe.
As reported by the German publication car through auto newsThe Sino-Swedish car company will lease the 15,000-square-foot building from the city of Trollhattan.
It will be used to develop electric powertrains and batteries for the upcoming generation. pole star 5 rescue and pole star 6 road riders.
This Swedish site was formerly used by Saab for powertrain development and later by Chinese owner National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS), which acquired the defunct Swedish marque. but went out of business last month.

Prototype Polestar 5
Polestar also currently has R&D facilities in Gothenburg, Sweden, as well as in Coventry, UK. The second of these plants is developing the lightweight bonded aluminum platform that will underpin the Polestar 5 and Polestar 6.
Both models will be manufactured at a factory in Chongqing, China.
EQUAL previous reportthe Polestar 5 large touring car will compete with cars like Porsche Taycan and announced in production form in 2024. An earlier prototype was shown at last year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The Polestar 5 will get a whopping 650 kW of power and 900 Nm of torque from the twin-motor electric powertrain. It will also feature an 800V architecture designed to allow lightning-fast charging times when plugged into a super-fast DC plug.

Polestar 6 LA Concept Edition

This all-electric roadster will have the same dual-motor powertrain as the Polestar 5 and cost around US$200,000 (~AU$300,000) at launch.
Interested buyers were able to pre-order a build slot of the same Polestar 6 LA Concept Edition as last year’s concept for US$25,000 (~AU$35,000), although all 500 The unit was sold out within a week.
A Polestar Australia spokesperson previously confirmed the upcoming Polestar 6 LA Concept version, although it’s unclear exactly how many are coming to us.
