Electric vehicle brand Polestar announced on Thursday that it plans to use the Tesla charging port.
The change will go into effect in 2025, with all new Polestar vehicles sold in North America from that point onward receiving the Tesla port, known as the North American Charging Standard (NACS). By mid-2024, Polestar drivers will also have access—via a CCS adapter—to the Tesla Supercharger network for fast DC charging.
That will allow Polestar to increase the number of charging points far beyond the 12,000 it offers today.

Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath called the move to the Tesla port “a huge win for our North American customers” and added that “it’s great to see the Supercharger network delivered in this way.”

Tesla in November 2022 made an open call for vehicle manufacturers to use its connectorargues that it’s the most proven way for EV fast charging and has about 60% more Tesla connectors than CCS connectors in the US, however, as Green Car Reports recently pointed out go out, Tesla standards delay in locations compared with CCS.
Future Polestar EV lineup
Made in China Polestar 2 hatchback has a rear-wheel drive version and is currently the only model of the brand, but there is much more. The pole star 3a larger American-made performance-oriented SUV, due in 2024, and then a smaller one pole star 4 will launch shortly afterwards, with the Tesla Model Y in its sights. ONE flagship Polestar 5 and Polestar 6 roadster will also be available later.
