Podcast for who to wear: Olympia Gayot

Olympia Gayot, J. Crew’s head of women’s and children’s design, knows a thing or two about color. Before joining J.Crew in 2010, Gayot attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where she studied fine arts and painting. After graduating, Gayot painted roses and designed and styled neighboring brands.

Gayot brings his love of art and color composition to the design of trousers, jackets and everything in between at J.Crew. “I always go to openings or shows to keep myself interested in what is going on and aware of what is happening in the contemporary world,” says Gayot.

Not only does Gayot bring his artistic eye to design, but he also always thinks before figuring out what will inspire the next season’s collection. “I wish I could say it’s one or two things that inspire me, but it’s really just so many different things,” Gayot said. “It’s about connecting those dots and creating a story.” In the latest episode of Who wears what with Hillary KerrGayot shares how she landed J.Crew, her favorite pieces to design, and more.
