Playground and Duos modes revealed at the launch of Rumbleverse, launching August 11 – PlayStation.
Hello PlayStation Nation! The launch of Rumbleverse – the 40-player free-to-play fighting game – is almost here! On August 11, Battle Barge will officially open to all Rumblers as a free download on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Get ready; This is the start of your exciting career as a Rower!
You are invited to Grapital City, where people live for the fight and dream of becoming a champion. Create your unique fighter and prepare to be shot out of a cannon, where you and 39 other contestants are unleashed on the streets of Grapital City to rumble. Traverse the streets and scale buildings in search of upgrades, found in every nook and cranny of the city. Then, choose a battle, move flexibly, take down your opponent and be the last person standing of the Rumbler.
So what’s new to launch?
Introducing Duos Mode
We’re really excited to see you all try to be a Solo Mode champion in our demo sessions. The real fun begins on August 11, when Duos Mode kicks in. Fight alongside a friend, share the spoils, protect each other and win together!
Duos mode takes all the gameplay into every moment you know and love from our Solo Brawler Royale experience and transforms it into something completely new. Each situation presents a new set of strategic questions for you and your partner to answer. Want to risk landing on a hot spot like the Trophy Heights Water Tower to get all that loot? If either player is eliminated, the other is left with no fallback, increasing the bet. Want to move and loot together? If you get too close, you will collect and share a player’s valuable items. If you isolate too much, you can be vulnerable to sneak attacks from aggressive Duos that make you outnumbered.
In Duos Mode, you only start with eight slots for your stats and a little less Max Health than if you were playing alone. In addition, you will not have access to the Superstar Comeback system. If your teammate is eliminated, you will get extra Max Health and Stat Slots given to you to help you keep fighting. Don’t worry, though, because running out of Health in Duos mode won’t KO you immediately.
If your teammates run out of health, they will be killed and need Help. To Help your teammates, just stand near them and press the Interact (Circle) button to cheer them back up. You will have 30 seconds to do so, but if your teammate is knocked down again, you will get less time to help them. Sounds simple? That is… until the opposing team is hovering over your friend trying to stop you. Try using Vicious Blast (hold Triangle) or activate Superstar Mode to push your opponent away from your friend, then get them back up as fast as you can. As a bonus, if you try to help your teammates while Superstar Mode is active, you’ll make them twice as fast.
Communication and teamwork are the keys to victory. Share items. Go for the free builds. Help each other when the enemy is attacking. You can kill teammates but won’t hurt them (unless water is on). If you want a real thrill, try tossing enemies into the air and letting your teammates hook up a follow-up attack. Create your dream team complex and get your fans truly supportive.
Introducing Playground Mode
Want to explore the city at your own pace and perfect your walk? Looking for a few lessons on how to play before you launch a giant cannon head-on? Check out our free roaming experience, Playground Mode. The city will be fully open to exploration. Look for training modules in different neighborhoods to take lessons on how to play. Battle high-tech robots to help you unlock your inner champion. Explore alone or with a friend. Enjoy Graph City at your own pace.
You can join the Playground server alone or with friends. If you bring a friend, you will not be paired as a team. This will allow you to fight each other or create your own fun in many ways. If you are eliminated while in the Playground, you can press the Option button to respawn nearby.
Press Option to open the map screen and see the locations and subject names of all the lessons scattered around the city, as well as the locations of the Equip zones. You can also enable or disable Battle Mode using the map screen. If you turn off Battle Mode, you can still interact with our robot training dummies, but other players won’t be able to disturb you. When you arrive at a study site, you can use the training screen to pop up lessons. There are 8 topic slots with lots of lessons to read. Learn at your own pace; no need to read everything in one visit.
Look for an Equip area if you want to mess around with any of the items Rumble has to offer. Here you can find every special move in the game, as well as every weapon and every consumable. And they will all respawn! Try everything to your heart’s content. Or just bring a friend and do foot races across the vast city. Play your way!
Season one starts on August 18
You’ll have a week to warm up, stretch, and practice your favorite super moves for the main event. Season One begins August 18! The Season One Battle Pass is packed with 100 rewards that you’ll unlock by earning Fame and growing your Rumbler career. Rewards include accessories and accessory sets to customize your look, Title Tags, emojis, etc. Make sure to customize your Title Tag on the Careers page. The opponents you eliminate will get a glimpse of all the training you have done.
You’ll be able to purchase the Battle Pass from the store for 1,000 Brawla Bills, the Rumbleverse’s in-game currency. To sweeten the deal, completing the Battle Pass will net you 1,500 Brawla Bills. Looks like someone skipped math class for walking day, guys.
