One Piece Odyssey is finally coming to Nintendo Switch

Bandai Namco announced that One Piece Odysseyturn-based role-playing game set in the extremely popular Shōnen Jump manga series A piecewill come to Nintendo Switch on July 26, 2024.

One Piece Odyssey was first released on PlayStation, Xbox and PC in January 2023 and the Switch version comes with the ‘Reunion of Memories’ post-game scenario, additional costumes for the Straw Hat crew, more several brand new costumes will debut in the game’s Switch release.

We’ve seen quite a few One Piece video games on Switch over the years — specifically pirate warrior fighting games and Red world — One Piece Odyssey is quite different from these two parts. With an original story and all-new character and monster designs by manga artist Eiichiro Oda, One Piece Odyssey brings the Straw Hats into the world of turn-based role-playing games.

Luffy and his crew are washed up on a mysterious island after a storm, and while there, they meet Adio and Lim, who come from this island, called Waford. However, Luffy was separated from his friends and stripped of his powers, so he had to rescue his crew and regain his strength to leave the island. You’ll be able to control all of the Straw Hat pirates, each with different abilities to help in combat and movement.

Fighting is one small also differs from standard turn-based content. A system called ‘Scramble Zone Battles’ divides each battle into different parts. Moving characters between those sections to ensure you protect your weaknesses and expose your enemy’s strengths is key to victory.

Our sister site Push Square reviewed One Piece Odyssey when it dropped last year and gave it a lovely 8/10, calling it “the ultimate joy of a JRPG”.
