Anime adaptation of the mobile tower defense game Arknights is in operation. Production, originally announced for November 2021, was further detailed during the game’s Japan 2nd Anniversary live stream on January 9, 2022. Its official title is Arknights: Prelude to Dawn. It was called “the first season”, implying that Yostar intended the adaptation to be a continuation.

The Arknights The main image of the anime shows members of Reunion on the left, with members of Rhodes Island on the right, amid a disaster. Reunion is represented by the characters Talulah, W, Crownslayer, Faust, Skullshatterer, Frostnova, Patriot and Mephisto. On the Rhodes Island side, Operators Amiya, Ch’en, Kal’tsit, Hoshiguma, Nearl, Doberman and Ace are seen with the player Doctor and the character Misha. The show will adapt the main story campaign of Night. Given the presence of Misha and Frostnova in the image, it’s possible that the first installment could include some or all of the events from the game’s “Reunion Arc”. The arc includes the first 8 playable episodes.
Yostar also shares employee details for Arknights cartoon. The show’s director and sub-directors are Yuuki Watanabe and Masaki Nishikawa. Watanabe has worked as an animator and animation director for shows like Mob Psycho 100, Azur Lane: Slow Ahead !, and December 2020 Arknights short anime Holy Knight Light. Several members of the game’s voice cast will reprise their roles, including Tomoyo Kurosawa, who voices Amiya. Kurosawa also played the role of Misaki in Bang Dream! and Ulti from One mouthful. The fan-favorite supporting character Ace will also be voiced by actor Takashi Matsuyama for the first time.
