Petronas officially launches Gentari – EV rental via VaaS, 25,000 EV charging points in Asia-Pac by 2030

This will be spread across a range of local, regional and international projects, responding to client needs and field opportunities.
While it will secure support from Petronas during its growth phase, the company said it will operate as an independently managed entity and will seek financial opportunities to accelerate growth. to meet existing needs and explore emerging energy technologies.
In a statement, Gentari reiterated its plan to have 30-40 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity in key markets by 2030, particularly through solar projects, with additional opportunities in the future. battery and wind storage. To date, it has the highest renewable capacity of 1.1 gigawatts in operation and is under development globally.
It also aims to produce up to 1.2 tonnes of hydrogen by leveraging its capacity in developing large projects to achieve scale as a low-carbon hydrogen producer, starting with projects in Malaysia. This segment will target industrial, power and transportation customers, especially early adopters.
On the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure front, they are looking to capture 10% of the market share. To achieve this, the company will need to pursue offering 25,000 public charging points across key markets in Asia Pacific by 2030, with a fixed presence in Malaysia and India. It added that its mid-term goal is to have up to 9,000 public charging points by 2026.
Its portfolio will also include a Vehicle as a Service (VaaS) model, which will provide electric vehicle rental and subscription services to businesses, starting with light electric vehicles. To date, it has installed more than 190 charging points and offers more than 250 electric two- and three-wheelers as part of its green mobility fleet in India and Malaysia.

The company, which is currently developing a public charging network in partnership with Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) and EV Connection (EVC), has recently installed a new 60kW DC fast charger at Suria KLCC, serving four compartments at Suria KLCC. location.
This brings its network of DC and AC chargers to 12 locations in the peninsula, including a 180 kW ABB DC charger at Petronas Station at R&R northbound Pedas Linggi and another 180 kW charger (configured to generate 90 kW + 90 kW) at Petronas Station at Gambang R&R eastbound.
