Parker receives ROAP award in honor of his late father

The late Daryl Parker is one of two winners in 2021. Daryl is the first African-American to serve as a manager in US racing history. Beginning in 1986, he took on management roles at all three Ohio dog races as well as in Michigan. He was recognized by ROAP in 1993. Before becoming a manager, he spent decades in the racetrack as an exercise equestrian, horseman and racing dealer before becoming a racing dealer. became the second black racing official in the country, having held various positions in racing offices at the now-defunct Fairmount Park and Cahokia Downs in Southern Illinois.
