Oris will support again Coral Restoration Foundation because it works to restore the world’s coral reefs. The Swiss watchmaker will give away a Carysfort Reef Limited Edition Aquis in yellow gold every year Raise the reef gala in Key Largo, Florida, scheduled for March 19. The auction provides the bulk of the Foundation’s annual budget.

Oris originally released the watch as a limited edition of 50 pieces, all of which have since sold. But during the gala, Oris gave away the first production piece, which had the lowest number of limited edition pieces (#02 out of 50 pieces) available to the public. Oris will also donate two more watches to the nonprofit Coral Recovery Foundation to other fundraisers this spring.

The 18 karat 43.5mm yellow gold watch is based on the Oris Aquis dive watch and is the first Oris Aquis model to be produced in solid gold. The 18-karat gold case is complemented by a solid 18-karat gold bezel with a black and blue porcelain bezel.

The automatic mechanical watch has a GMT function and can display the time in three time zones simultaneously using a 24-hour scale that is laser-engraved into the bezel. The back of the watch is decorated with a distinctive Carysfort Reef motif. Oris expects the watch to be much more than its original $19,000 retail price at gala auction.

Oris has an almost decades-long partnership with the Coral Restoration Fund as part of Oris Change to be better initiative. By the end of the year, the foundation will plant more than 30,000 corals on Florida’s Carysfort Reef.

“This partnership is at the heart of our continuing mission to deliver Change for the Better,” explains Rolf Studer, Co-CEO of Oris. “Through the Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition, we are truly advancing our ambition and contribution to returning the world’s corals to their original state. It is a hugely important project and we are delighted by all that the Coral Restoration Fund is achieving through it. “
