Bandai Namco uploaded a new trailer for One Piece Odyssey, showing gameplay set in Alabasta. Although the game lies long after the actual events of Alabasta. storyline, a new feature that allows the Straw Hats relive their most memorable adventures. Through a feature called “Memoria”, Luffy and crew are able to visit the desert country ruled by princess Vivi.

The new trailer also offers the most important look at live yet One Piece Odyssey how to play. Unique battles, explorations, cutscenes, and mechanics are all showcased. Each member of the Straw Hat Pirates has a unique Battlefield Action that allows them to traverse the environment efficiently. For example, Luffy can stretch his limbs to reach distant locations, and Chopper can fit into small spaces. Usopp can hit targets in the environment with his slingshot. The game’s combat system is turn-based, and players will be able to switch party members to best suit the type of enemy facing. There are also variations that mix up the battle order, such as the Scramble Zone, a condition that divides characters into different zones and forces them to fight as they please. Characters with ranged attack abilities, like Nami and Usopp, can lend a hand to their teammates. Drama places special conditions on the battle, such as having to help a team member in crisis. Completing the conditions unlocks bonus rewards and special dialogue exchanges.
One Piece Odyssey Releases January 12, 2023 on PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series X | S and on PC on January 13. One limited edition will also include a number.
