One of my high school friends used to text me on July 5 with a simple, clear message: “Happy end of summer!!” A photo is often attached with text saying: our local Target school’s new feed aisle. His point of view? As Monday 4th of July comes to an end, it seems like we as a society are headed for what’s next — back to school, fall, or whatever life-specific things at this point in time. years may mean to you.
I’m not saying this to discourage you. Personally, I don’t want the summer to end! I want to bask in all that is worthwhile, mainly in the form of days of endless sunshine, warm weather, and the slower pace of life that summer presents at its best. Rather, I say it as a reminder. July is almost over. August is for three days. And I hope you can find a moment in each coming day to enjoy what summer means to you.
