We’re sorry, when does it become October? Well, we think it’s time to look back to September for our monthly eShop Selects count!

It’s fall (or fall depending on the term you prefer to use for brittle leaf season). The night is dragging on. The temperature is dropping. And the holiday season is fast approaching – we know, we sorry. But that means a lot of video games are coming our way and you need to know which are the best that you can get from the eShop.

What game will bring a smile to your face and keep you all nice and cozy when the cold hits? Continue reading …

Honor Mention:

Unless you’ve been living in your blankets for the past month, you know September is packed – here’s one of our biggest lineups ever for eShop Selects! So if you don’t like our top three, there’s a huge dose of excellent eShop titles here for you:

Radiant Silvergun (Switch eShop)

Radiant Silvergun (Switch eShop)

Publishing company: Life / Developers: Treasures, precious things

Release date: September 13, 2022 (USA) / September 13, 2022 (United Kingdom / EU)

Well… that’s a lot of 9/10, right? How about another one? Treasure’s classic Sega Saturn shmup Radiant Silvergun surprised us during the Nintendo Direct by dropping it on the same day it was announced! We knew it was coming thanks to the Tokyo Game Show schedule, but it’s actually here – after a bit of a toss-up eShop in North America.

And thank goodness this game still holds up after almost 25 years. It’s beautiful, brilliant, bold, lucky, and possibly one of the best shmups ever. And while it’s often hard, Story Mode offers a more pleasant intro to a genre-defying classic.

We were basically defeated. Find out exactly everything we love about Radiant Silvergun in our review.

Ao Dai (Convert eShop)

Ao Dai (Convert eShop)

Publishing company: Finji / Developers: Team TUNIC

Release date: September 27, 2022 (USA) / September 27, 2022 (United Kingdom / EU)

We know this yes will eventually come to Switch – it’s kinda cute Legend of Zelda game like fox!? And Ao Dai not disappointed. After receiving critical acclaim on Xbox and PC earlier in the year, Tunic truly feels at home on the Nintendo console.

However, don’t let the cuteness fool you, as there’s a good amount of meat Dark souls-eqsue fight to sink your teeth in. On top of that, the game is a love letter to old video game manuals. In-game manual, we mentioned before, invites you to tap into your childhood, where you sat in front of the NES and SNES and scribbled solutions. It is very charming.

Payment procedures our 8/10 rating of Tunic for more awesome fox fun.

Return to Monkey Island (Switch eShop)

Return to Monkey Island (Switch eShop)

Publishing company: Devolver Digital / Developers: Huge toy box

Release date: September 19, 2022 (USA) / September 19, 2022 (United Kingdom / EU)

Guybrush Ulysses Threepwood is back with us for Pirate Day Chat, and we’ve never been happier. Back to Monkey Island just – the return to one of the best point-and-click series ever made, with both Ron Gilbert and Dave Grossman returning to show us how it’s done and then some .

It’s a nostalgic ride full of new sensations, one that celebrates and explores everything in front of us, exquisitely crafted with all the intelligence we’ve come to know and love. It’s also completely intuitive on the Switch. Hardly a grain of sand is out of place, and it sparkles like a precious item we keep with us for all of this. No need to walk around with this one.

Haven’t you checked out Guybrush’s crazy comeback? 9/10 of our review should convince you to set sail.

How we decided on eShop Our top three picks: As we approach the end of each month, Nintendo Life staff members will vote on their favorite titles from a list of games selected by the editorial team. To be eligible for this list, these games must have been released as a digital-only Nintendo Switch eShop title in that particular month and must be rated on Nintendo Life; We select eligible games based on their review scores.

Employees were then asked to vote for three games they thought deserved to sit at the top of that list; The first choice gets 3 points, the second choice gets 2 points and the third choice gets 1 point. These votes are then checked to create a top three list, with the overall winner receiving that month’s top prize.
