Nikon officially discontinued the D500

Nikon’s Japanese website now has a total of five DSLR cameras: D6, D850, D780, D500 and D7500. But D500 now carries the label “old product” —aka discontinued — so it won’t be long before it will be removed from the list altogether. For a while, the 6-year-old camera was listed as out of stock or discontinued at various major retailers, but this is the first official confirmation that DX-format DSLRs are on the way. into history.

It is, of course, further proof – if needed – that the “mirrorless revolution” shows no signs of abating. At the same time, these were the DSLRs that finally stood their ground which also proved how great they all (still) are in terms of photography tools. Indeed, the “respectable” D500 remains a favorite with many underwater photographers, especially when paired with Tokina 10–17mm for wide angle. (Payment procedures Keri Wilk’s amazing sperm whale shot with the Nikon D500 if you don’t believe us.)

Good news? DSLR fans can still go into Backscatter and get one Brand new D500—As well as any good camera on the list above. Farewell, D500. You’re a long way from capturing great underwater images!
