Nihon Falcom Game Streaming Guidelines Published in Japan

Published by Nihon Falcom new streaming guide applies to its game-based user-uploaded videos and streams. The company generally only allows non-profit uploads on websites, blogs, and social media. However, it is an exception to monetization made through official partner features on video sites, such as YouTube and Twitch.

In the guide, Nihon Falcom asks users not to publish gameplay videos of its titles before the official release date. However, the company can make an exception when it directly asks another person or company to publish its content ahead of time.

In addition to the above, Falcom also requires users to place spoiler warnings on videos containing key story events. It prohibits uploading game content found through illegal methods, such as data mining and modding.

As users’ uploading and streaming of games became popular, many Japanese companies decided to establish official guidelines for regulating videos based on their games in the country. Bandai Namco, Koei Tecmo, Segaand Capcom are several companies that have established comprehensive streaming guidelines for many titles.

The latest book title that Nihon Falcom has published so far is Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki, available for PlayStation 4 in Japan. The company will issue The Legend of Nayuta: Endless Trails – Ad Astra for Nintendo Switch on May 26, 2022 and Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki II – Crimson SiN for PlayStation 4 and 5 in Fall 2022.
