Naughty Dog is currently working on a remake of 2013 Our last one, put it on PlayStation 5. The project was long-rumored and finally leaked by a PlayStation Direct store list. Now, Naughty Dog himself has arrived with a gameplay demo for the game. Calling The Last of Us Part 1a new documentary video highlights the team’s goals and the upgrades players can expect from the transition to PS5.

inside The Last of Us Part 1 Featured “Rebuilt for PS5”, Naughty Dog characters such as Co-Chairman Neil Druckmann, Director Matthew Gallant and Creative Director Shawn Escayg hold fast to their goals for the game. This feature shows comparison between 2014 The Last of Us Remastered (PS4 upgrade of the game) and The Last of Us Part 1 runs on PS5. According to the team, the extra power and graphics capabilities of the PS5 allow Naughty Dog to bring the game closer to their original creative vision. This effort also allows them to capitalize on the innovations and lessons learned from the development of Our Last Part 2.
Gallant mentioned that when it launched on PS3 in 2013, the original game pushed the limits of the console’s capabilities. As a result, the PS5’s higher specs can touch every part of the game, from lighting to environmental art to character models and facial expressions. The increased density of “physical objects” allows for more immersive environments and adds intensity to encounters as characters jostle back and forth in the scene. Druckmann and Gallant also talked about improvements to the AI in the game. These upgrades allow NPC “buddy” characters to predict enemy behavior to a certain extent and react accordingly. They claim that PS5 native features like 3D audio and Dualsense controller haptic feedback will also enhance the experience.
The Last of Us Part 1 will also contain more performance and visual improvements. The accessibility features debut in Our Last Part 2 will be included, as well as things like Full Audio Descriptions for cutscenes. Improved Photo Mode, Time Runtime Mode, Permadeath mode, and Model Viewer mode will be included at release. The game itself includes the main campaign and Left behind DLC content, and also adds some cosmetic unlocks for weapons and character costumes. One thing that will not be included is Face multiplayer mode. Alike Part 2, The Last of Us Part 1 There will be no multiplayer mode. Naughty Dog is developing an indie multiplayer game based on the franchise, although there’s no word on that title at this time.
The Last of Us Part 1 released on PS5 on September 2, 2022. The Last of Us Remastered available on PS4 and as part of a library of PS Plus Collection games available to all PS5 owners subscribing to PS Plus.
