The Daily Mirror’s top story covers the conviction of Savannah Brockhill, 28, for the murder of 16-month-old Star Hobson. The toddler’s mother and Brockhill’s girlfriend, 20-year-old Frankie Smith, were found guilty of causing or allowing her child’s death. The front page also featured a photo of what it called a “crazy” Christmas party thrown by Tory aides at the party’s Westminster headquarters during the coronavirus restrictions last Christmas. The picture shows 24 people including former Conservative candidate for mayor of London, Shaun Bailey. A spokesman for his campaign told the Mirror the “after-work event to thank campaign staff” was a “serious mistake in judgment” and apologised “not sincerely”.
