Chery Malaysia has just released another statement about the Omoda 5 rear axle case. This is the company’s third public statement after the incident broke out on social networks on April 28. The third statement – ​​released today, May 4 – gives some interesting insights into the matter. According to Lee Wen Hsiang, Vice President of Chery Auto Malaysia, they voluntarily arranged a meeting with the Ministry of Transport to inform them of the issue.

The root cause of the problem was also identified after a thorough investigation. “After a comprehensive investigation, the supplier reported that the problem was due to a facility upgrade, in which the worn welding head of the automatic welding machine was replaced with a new welding head. A total of 60 Omoda 5s in Malaysia were identified to be using the affected parts, manufactured on 15 August 2023. Kuala Lumpur, 4 May 2024 – Chery Auto Malaysia is trying to inform customers about a recent incident related to the axle of the OMODA 5 vehicle.
