The new Gran Turismo 7 update features an all-electric racing car created specifically for the game

Three new cars added this month

ŠKODA Vision Gran Turismo

Single-seat all-wheel drive electric vehicle from the famous Czech manufacturer.

Drawing on Škoda Motorsport’s rich heritage, the Škoda Design Team has created a visionary study of a single-seat, all-electric racing concept car: the ŠKODA Vision Gran Turismo. Created exclusively for Gran Turismo, this concept represents Škoda’s first entry into the Gran Turismo range. Inspired by the Škoda 1100 OHC Spyder race car from 1957, a car originally developed for the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans race, the Vision Gran Turismo is a modern tribute to this legendary race car and promises promises to bring a wonderful and responsive driving experience.

The ŠKODA Vision Gran Turismo project began in 2019 when the design team revisited the iconic Škoda 1100 OHC. Initially, the team was debating whether to restore the original 1100 OHC or create a futuristic version for the digital age. After consulting with Chief Designer Oliver Stefani, the Škoda Design team chose an innovative approach, creating a fusion of the past and the future.

This racing concept pays homage to its legendary predecessor as well as incorporating hallmarks of Škoda’s Modern Solid design language, as seen in the T-shaped headlights. Furthermore, the Vision The Gran Turismo also comes in two distinct paint colors: one reflects the heritage of the famous Škoda 130 RS racing car from the 70s, and the other is inspired by the Vision 7S concept car, reflecting the Design philosophy. Modern Snake design by Škodás.

The ŠKODA Vision Gran Turismo boasts a sleek exterior with sharp, clean lines and clean edges, reflecting the aesthetics of current Formula E racing drivers. Its design is optimized for outstanding handling through active aerodynamics. Features such as the aerodynamically designed body and the striking, adaptive two-piece rear wing all work together to dynamically adjust to driving conditions and increase performance. The car incorporates an independent wishbone-style suspension, mounted to a carbon monocoque frame similar to that found on Formula E cars, improving high-speed stability, reducing body vibration and lower the vehicle’s center of gravity.

Efficiency and excellent driving dynamics are at the heart of the ŠKODA Vision Gran Turismo design. It is equipped with twin 200 kW (268.2 BHP) electric motors, one on each axle, providing a combined output of 800 kW (1,072 BHP). Equipping an all-wheel drive system with intelligent torque distribution on both axles ensures a balanced and responsive driving experience. This is complemented by a smooth single-speed transmission, delivering seamless acceleration.

The design of the ŠKODA Vision Gran Turismo harmonizes the exterior and interior, giving the driver a feeling of being part of the car ‒ especially when they sit in the cockpit of the advanced carbon monocoque chassis.

AFEELA 2024 prototype

A revolutionary ‘mobile device’ designed to change the way we spend our time on the go.

“Motivating people through the pursuit of innovation with diverse sources of inspiration.” Embrace cutting-edge technology and create new joys in movement to inspire others. This is what Sony Honda Mobility was founded for in 2022. This new company, born from a collaboration between two very different companies, unveiled their AFEELA Prototype 2024 BEV at the beginning of CES® 2024.

On the exterior, the car uses an official hatchback sedan design with smooth aerodynamics. There are a number of sensors on the car, including a LiDAR unit on the front of the hood as well as other imaging and radar sensors. Highly accurate data from these devices is used to provide more natural driving assistance.

The door automatically opens when the user approaches, so there is no need for a door handle. Looking towards the front grille you’ll find the customizable ‘Media Bar’, a digital display that allows self-expression and communication from outside the vehicle.

However, the AFEELA’s real appeal lies in its cabin. The interior is packed with features to ensure passengers never get bored.

The most obvious feature when you get into the car is the wide dashboard screen that spans almost the entire width of the car. This screen not only provides information from the vehicle itself but also offers a number of entertainment options that can also be displayed on the rear seat back screens. In addition to music and movies, passengers can also view real-time 3D images of the car’s surroundings taken from the sensor array and allow them to enjoy their surroundings as if playing a game.

The car’s appeal isn’t just visual. AFEELA also has a personal agent feature that allows passengers to interact with the vehicle through natural speech. Additionally, the combination of Honda’s extensive experience in mobility and Sony’s audio know-how has resulted in an innovative noise cancellation system that reduces road noise. Isolated from the noise of the outside world, multiple internal speakers provide a great soundstage.

AFEELA transforms the travel process from just waiting to enjoying your time in the car. This 2024 prototype is a key milestone in bringing AFEELA to market production.

Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 Sport Coupe ’70

Popular in drag racing; Demonstrates incredible power from a large engine.

Introduced for the 1964 model year, the Chevelle was Chevrolet’s first mid-range model. With the SS sports car in the lineup and an optional high-output 327ci V8 engine, the Chevelle has all the hallmarks of a muscle car.

However, the following year, 1965, the Chevelle SS was converted into a full-blown high-performance car with a 396 ci, OHV V8 engine. From then on, the Chevelle SS was offered only with this 396 ci unit, drawing a clear line between it and the previous SS.

In 1970, the Chevelle SS continued to be considered the most powerful mid-range car on the market. The engine line available only in 396 ci has been upgraded, offering an enlarged 402 ci model. Additionally, a 454 ci extended version of the 427 ci was also offered.

Option codes for the two 454 ci models offered are LS5 and LS6. The former produces 355 BHP with 10.25:1 compression, and the latter’s compression is raised to 11.25:1, and combined with the high cam and high-flow injectors, it produces about 449, 7 BHP. This was the most powerful catalog model engine in American automotive history at the time.

The LS6-equipped Chevelle SS454 was immediately recognized as a very special car, with an unlikely peak power output for a road-legal car. Equipped with a straight exhaust and carburetor settings, it was said to have easily exceeded 493.1 BHP and was a major contender in entry-level drag racing.
