Ascent’s cyberpunk world is coming to PS4 and PS5 tomorrow. Developed by our team of 12 at Neon Giant and published by Curve Games, The Ascent is a solo and cooperative shooter action RPG set in a cyberpunk world. Based in a corporate-run metropolis, sprawling across the sky and brimming with creatures from across the galaxy. You play as a worker, enslaved by the company that owns you and everyone else in your county: the Ascent Corporation. One day, you are suddenly caught up in a whirlpool of catastrophic events: The Ascent Group is shut down for unknown reasons and the very existence of your region is threatened. You must take up arms and embark on a new quest to find out what started it all.

The power of sound
Thanks to the DualSense driver speakers, players can experience another level of sound in the game. In the heat of the firefight action, just when you think you’re done, players can hear health packs drop from enemies. Every time you get hit or warn a group of enemies; You will hear the action coming from your hands. In the less action-packed moments, as you wander the neon-lit streets of the palace, you’ll hear corporate propaganda and advertisements from the palace trying to brainwash your brain. Friend.
The sound for The Ascent was produced by award-winning studio Sweet Justice Sound, who took the experience to the next level. Using the power of the DualSense controller in a unique way, Sweet Justice Sound used a variety of synth sources, from modular synthesizers to EDM drum loops, to create a unique sound and pair them with events in the game’s audio to enhance the player’s experience, such as specific sounds to navigate menus for a tactical feel and drums to reload to let players know when the reload is complete.
Ascent also leverages the PS5’s 3D Tempest AudioTech option for TV speakers and sound systems along with PS5 Pulse wireless headphones.
