Netflix subscribers were unable to stream their shows and movies, and in the late hours of July 15, some users were unable to access their content. Error alarms showed a spike in the number of user complaints from around the world. However, Netflix got in on the action and problem was resolved in less than two hours.
There have been thousands of reports of outages from countries including USA, France and India on Downdetector. The streaming service, which last reported 220 million subscribers in March 2022, has since been fixed and is now up and running without any issues for subscribers.
Some frustrated Netflix users have Twitter To express their sadness over the blackout, most of them complained about how the blackout ruined their Friday night binge plans. “Friday night and @netflix down! How was your Friday night?”, one user tweeted.
It was later found that the outage was mainly done due to an issue in Amazon. com’s cloud services unit, also temporarily shut down Netflix’s services in December 2021. The incident also affected Walt Disney’s Disney+, Robinhood, a range of commercial apps and websites. electronics of Amazon.com Inc. Additionally, Block Inc’s Square is also facing issues, according to the outage tracking website.
Before Netflix was down, several of Meta’s social media apps faced outages on Thursday. It is said that social media apps like Twitter and Instagram have faced outages. Twitter was reportedly down for three hours. Similar was the case with Instagram, which was quickly rectified.
However, these outages are nothing compared to the massive outage that rocked Meta’s platforms last year. Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram were down for over six hours due to internal technical issues.
