NBA Odds: Donovan Mitchell trades with the Cavs; latest title, odds MVP

Donovan Mitchell moving! After months of waiting, Utah Jazz finally exchanged the young superstar with Cleveland Cavaliers.

In exchange for transferring Mitchell to The Land, Jazz brought in a newly signed contract Colin Sextonrookie Ochai Agbaji and Lauri Markkanen in addition to the first three unprotected picks and the two swap picks.

Blockbuster deal impacted Cavs odds to win in 2023 NBA championship, shortening all the way down from +10000 arrive +4000 in FOX bets. Cleveland’s Central Division win percentage also dropped from +750 to +330 at DraftKings Sportsbook.

And if you think Spida will be on the field right now while he’s in town, home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, his chances of winning the MVP title are very favorable. With the key to a team that already has two All-Stars in 2021, Mitchell’s cup win percentage remains steady at +6600 at FOX Bet.

On the other end of the spectrum, after having a league best run in the 2020-2021 season, the Utah Jazz are currently near the bottom of the table when it comes to title futures. Utah’s chip win rate extends from +10000 arrive +20000. Their reign as the defending champions of the Northwest also appears to be over, as they have the fourth best odds in the league, just ahead of Oklahoma City Thunder.

Mitchell was drafted 13th overall in the 2017 draft by Denver Nuggets and then immediately switched to Jazz. He’s had the resounding success of leading the Jazz to six consecutive playoffs. The team had only one appearance in the six years before his arrival.

However, after failing to make it through to the second round, followed by the quick resignation of head coach Quin Synder, Utah decided to blow it up at the cost of Rudy Gobert. Mitchell is gone now, too, as the team will rebuild with their treasure trove of draft picks.

During his tenure at Utah, he averaged 23.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.3 steals on 44% of shots.

So with the changing title and division odds, it’s clear the Cavs will be a factor in the East next season. While many expect Spida to end on Knicksfrom a basketball perspective, this is a good landing spot for the young keeper.

The starting line-up features three players from the 2022 All-Star game and Evan Mobley will certainly make a strong case in his sophomore year. Meanwhile, the second unit is filled with sly veterans known to be frontrunners and know how to win.
