It seems like Nate Diaz may have to get rid of the weeds, at least while he’s ready to canning Jake Paul end of this summer.
Wednesday, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which is responsible for overseeing combat sports in the state, told MMA Junkie, following an initial report by mixed martial artsthat Diaz will be tested for marijuana during an eight-round boxing match against Paul on August 5 in Dallas.
“Mr. Diaz will follow the same rules as everyone else competing in combat sports events in Texas.”
Although many states and other regulators such as the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), no longer penalize those who fight for detected marijuana use, TDLR has a strict THC threshold of 50 ng/ ml, where any THC level above 50ng/ml is a violation.
Trials that exceed the THC threshold will be suspended for 90 days and fined $500. If the athlete wins his match, the victory will also be converted to no-competition.

Diaz is open about her marijuana use and has been seen smoking at press conferences and open workout for his UFC fights. MMA Junkie asked Diaz at Tuesday’s press conference to promote the event about drug testing in general, Diaz said.
“There are a lot of weeds in (my system). Have.”
MMA Junkie specifically follows up on how Diaz will deal with the zero-tolerance policy on marijuana in the state of Texas, which caught him off guard.
“Wait what happened?” Diaz asked. “Well, let’s go to California.”
