During the February 2022 Nintendo Direct, worldwide Nintendo Switch Online releases of Start Earthbound (Mommy) and Earthbound (Mother 2) show. Prior to disclosure, Mommy Series creator Shigesato Itoi teased on Twitter that people can expect something. Now a sequel, Itoi offers additional thoughts on how the two JRPGs will become more widely available on a new platform. [Thanks, Nintendo Enthusiast!]
The video begins with Itoi explaining how he anticipates the release. He also recreated his excitement when he learned it would come through the service. He then mentioned how much he appreciates how much these additions mean for those who can’t play because they don’t know where they might be now. Finally, he also joked, “And, you know, now I can make friends young enough to be my great-grandson.”
Itoi also followed things up with another tweet. This time, he shared a photo showing him just starting to play again Earthbound on Switch.

Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can now find Start Earthbound in the NES app and Earthbound in the SNES app. They both playable with standard$19.99 per year membership.
