The BBC has been criticized for the color scale it uses to show temperatures, with lows of 11C shown in yellow while 41C is depicted as dark red.
The broadcaster has confused some viewers with its temperature contour map, which turns orange when temperatures reach 13C.
This color scheme was introduced in 2017, with the BBC at the time saying it was aimed at helping people with color blindness.
Young Tobyfounder of The Daily Sceptic website, thinks the BBC has “gone a bit too far”.
“How can it represent temperatures above 20C? Fire ball?” he say.
Tuesday night’s weather forecast shows most of the country in yellow and orange on Wednesday when temperatures are predicted to reach 20C.
One viewer wrote on social media that the system was “absolutely bizarre.”
“I’m not a big conspiracy theorist but I have to agree with those who criticize the ridiculous use of bright yellow and orange/red colors on weather maps to represent temperatures of 18/19 degrees !” viewer wrote.
Another wrote that the BBC “needs to shake its collective head”.
“Since when is 13C guaranteed to be yellow/orange on weather maps?!” viewer wrote.
A BBC spokesman said: “The colors used currently range from blue for the coldest temperatures to red for the hottest temperatures as these are easier to see if you are color blind.”
Last year, the broadcaster was forced to clarify its color scheme after viewers claimed it had increased the intensity of the map to provide warnings about rising temperatures.
An image went viral at the time, contrasting a weather map from August 2003 showing temperatures reaching 35C with an image from 2016 showing temperatures reaching 33C.
