Mind Control to Freshen in Florida, Point for Carter
Purple Oak Secure and Madaket Stables’ Mind Control , scratched from the Nov. 6 Big Ass Fans Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) at Del Mar after operating a temperature, is recovering at San Luis Rey Equine Hospital in Southern California and won’t race till 2022, Purple Oak racing supervisor Rick Sacco instructed TVG.
In a Nov. 11 interview with TVG’s Scott Hazelton on the Keeneland November Breeding Inventory Sale, Sacco stated the horse is “thriving” and would depart in about 5 days to journey to Purple Oak Farm close to Ocala.
“We will level for the Carter (G1),” a seven-furlong race at Aqueduct Racetrack in early spring, he instructed TVG.

Thoughts Management, a 5-year-old son of Stay Thirsty , is a multiple grade 1 winner, having captured the Hopeful Stakes (G1) at 2 and the H. Allen Jerkens Stakes (G1) at 3. His last start was a victory in the Sept. 25 Parx Dirt Mile Stakes, which boosted Mind Control’s earnings to over $1.4 million. He has raced for trainer Todd Pletcher since the summer.
“There was nice curiosity from Kentucky Farms, and there may be curiosity from Japanese buyers who needed to face him as a stallion, however chatting with Steve Brunetti (of Purple Oak Stables) and Sol Kumin (of Madaket Stables), they’re sport,” Sacco added. “They wish to exit to the races, and we will run him once more subsequent yr.”
