To narrow down your search, start by browsing the route(s) you want through Google Flights and then book directly with the airline. For example, you can book this round-trip flight from JFK to CUN in June for $331 on JetBlue.

Any discounted flights on this deal on JetBlue won’t include a full-size carry-on item, so make sure to charge an extra $60 to upgrade to Blue — plus another $60 if you are going to check in your baggage. Blue Basic is JetBlue’s most limited fare and, therefore, it is non-refundable. It also does not include seat selection.

If you fly with Aeromexico, the base fare is non-refundable and you cannot change your booking. However, it does include a carry-on item. For Americans, the basic economy class ticket cannot be changed but can be canceled and includes carry-on baggage. Based on an experimental search done for this story, most available flights include transit, with the exception of some routes to CUN.
