Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe 2024 launched

The second generation Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé was announced, and as before, it combines the front end of the GLC crossover with a fastback-style rear end.

Like its more practical brother, the GLC Coupe has a more rounded and sportier body, and rides on the rear- and four-wheel drive MRA platform.

The new GLC Coupe measures 4763mm long, 1890mm wide and 1605mm high. We believe it runs on the same 2888mm wheelbase as the second generation cross GLC.

Compared to the previous generation GLC Coupe, the new model is 31 mm longer, 5 mm taller and has a 15 mm longer wheelbase. Although the overall width is unchanged, the wheels are further apart, with the front track increasing by 6mm to 1627mm and the rear track increasing by 23mm to 1640mm.

Thanks to its slimmer profile, the GLC Coupe has a drag index of 0.27. This figure is not only down from 0.30 in the previous generation, but also better than the 0.29 of the GLC crossover.

Trunk space is rated at 545L with the rear seats up and 1490L with the rear seats folded down. That’s an increase of 45L and 90L over the old model, but still 55L down from the more upright GLC crossover.

With the battery pack of the plug-in hybrid variants located under the trunk floor, PHEV models are rated at just 390L (upper seat) and 1335L (bottom seat).

At launch in Europe, there will be two petrol engines, two diesels and three plug-in hybrid powertrains to choose from. All powertrain options come with all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission as standard.

The two petrol models are 150kW/320Nm GLC200 4Matic And 190kW/400Nm GLC300 4Maticboth have 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines under the bonnet.

Diesel fans have a choice between 145kW/440Nm GLC220d 4Matic and 198kW/550Nm GLC300d 4Maticboth have 2.0-liter turbo-diesel four-pot engines.

Each petrol and diesel engine option is equipped with a 48V mild-hybrid system that makes the engine stop/start smoother and can provide a small power boost when needed.

In the plug-in camp, 230kW/550Nm GLC300e 4Matic and 280kW/650Nm GLC400e 4Matic has a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine as its core, while 245kW/750Nm GLC300de 4Matic using a 2.0 liter turbo-diesel engine.

All plug-in hybrid powertrains feature a 100kW/400Nm electric motor and a 31.2kWh battery pack. The petrol versions have a WLTP electric driving range of 119 km, while the diesel variant can drive 113 km on electricity alone.

There is still no word on what powertrain will be available in the GLC Coupe for the Australian market, but the GLC crossover will only be available in the GLC300 4Matic . enclosure when it arrives Down Under sometime in Q2 2023.

The interior of the GLC Coupe will be familiar to anyone who has seen the latest version Grade and GLC. In front of the driver is a 12.3-inch instrument display, while an 11.9-inch touchscreen running the latest MBUX infotainment system emerges from the center console.

Depending on specifications, the cabin can be equipped with aluminum or wood trim, and different types of leather upholstery on the seats, dashboard and other touch points.

Available features include air quality monitoring, wireless smartphone charging, heated front and rear seats, and a Burmeister 710W audio system with 15 speakers.

At the driver’s front, the GLC Coupe can be specified with air suspension, self-levelling rear suspension and four-wheel steering.

On the safety front, options include digital light-matrix LED headlights that can project guide and warning lines onto the road ahead, and a 360-degree camera system with a “interior bonnet” function. transparent”.
