If you have $2.5 million to spend and want the best trackable car you can legally drive on the street, you might want to give McMurtry Spéirling a look. It’s all-electric, makes around 1,000 horsepower, and has an active downforce inspired by the Chaparral 2J. Oh, and the style is completely wild.

We first saw what McMurtry could do in the summer when Spéirling set a new record at Goodwood Hillclimb. With a time of 39.08 seconds, it beat the previous record by more than two seconds. When watching the video, it’s hard to believe it’s a real car going that fast and the video isn’t simply accelerating. But that’s really how fast it drove. And remember, at least in the UK, this is street legal.

Recently, car got a chance to check out Spéirling’s acceleration at Silverstone and it’s a must-see video. The first 16 minutes give you an overview of the car’s engineering and take in all the wild stats such as the 4,400 pound downforce that the fan system generates. Accelerated tests start a little after the 16-minute mark, and as you can imagine, it’s absurdly fast. Based on the driver’s response, you might even call it too fast.

But don’t stop watching after the first run. A 0 to 60 mph time of 2.27 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 9.34 seconds is quick, but the car also “only” makes 600 horsepower and the track is a bit wet. A couple of runs later, with a full 1,000 horsepower, it can hit 60 mph in 1.4 seconds and a quarter-mile run in 7.97 seconds, which they claim is an acceleration record. for street legal cars.

That’s just ridiculously quick. You could even argue that it’s too fast to be allowed out on the street. But something tells us that even if these cars are driven, owners will likely take it to whatever track they intend to race. And like so many other expensive cars, it’s a big if. But even so, it’s great that this thing exists.

I broke a 1/4 mile world record in this new HYPERCAR!
