Espoir De Teillee is the winner of this course and the gap in the spring from the same 142 mark. He is right in front of Kalooki there, the pair meet at the same weight. A winner on soft ground at Warwick before, he won’t have to worry if there’s more rain.
Tom George’s pitch is in a better place now than when he returned to play at Chepstow. It’s not a bad run by any means and at almost four times the price of Kalooki, he looks like he has a way to go.
Take risks currently up 13 but he’s got enough of him to land Sky Bet Chase in January as part of a monster 1065/1 bystander per way double winner for Owen, The Cob the other half of that. That success comes from being just a pound below this so he’s heavy enough if he can reproduce.
He’s gone back to breaking barriers, which he should have done right. Sean Quinlan will float with a pair of wins at Doncaster on Friday, which is the ideal timing as this horse fills him with confidence.
Was sent off on January 14 for this race last year, Danny Whizzbang was our tip for the big race, although he was ultimately disappointed. Losing 10 pounds to the effort, he left Paul Nicholls and joined the field of Milton Harris, who is having a great time this season.
The move to a smaller pitch could allow him to find himself again when he was a very talented newcomer. He won the Grade 2 novice chase here for the first time in the 2019/20 season. His new pitch tests him in a visor and while he needs plenty of credit, the possibilities are beyond this mark.
