Maserati GranTurismo Folgore design and key specifications revealed

Next generation Maserati GranTurismo will lay eggs an electric variant, with the Folgore . crest with over 1,200 horsepower. While the coupe has yet to be fully unveiled, the Italian company has released a video showing it without camouflage and revealing key specifications.

Shot on the picturesque streets of California, the five-minute film offers a better look at the stunning design of the second generation GranTurismo. It is characterized by a long hood, a convertible-like roofline and a relatively short trunk, while its front end borrows some of the stylistic cues begun by MC20 and have also seen on Grecale. The pattern is instantly recognizable as a member of Maserati investment portfolio.

we known that the first mass-produced electric Maserati will ship with three-motor powertrains with around 1,200 hp. Design director Klaus Busse (who is behind the wheel in the video) announced that GranTurismo Folgore takes 2.6 seconds to reach 60 mph from a stop and tops out at over 200 mph. He added that the battery pack is housed in the transmission tunnel, a solution that has allowed his team to give the car a relatively low profile, but details like the size of the unit and driving range have yet to be finalized.

Not interested in electric cars? Maserati has you covered: it will put the Folgore at the top of the GranTurismo line but it will also offer at least a V6 version of the car. We’re guessing that the engine will be related to the awesome 3.0-liter Nettuno V6 powering the MC20.

Maserati will announce more details about the GranTurismo Folgore in the coming months, and the coupe’s launch is expected in 2023.
