Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope Win the Award for Best Original Video Game Score at Ivors
We had a good time with Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope when it was released on Switch in late 2022, and the game was just recognized for its excellent soundtrack at this year’s Ivor Novello Awards, where the game took home Best Original Video Game Score.
The award was presented to Gareth Coker, Grant Kirkhope and Yoko Shimomura for their work on the project, Kirkhope posted the following tweet to express his gratitude.
It’s great to see video game composers recognized for the invaluable work they do on each project and Sparks of Hope (even though it barely lit up the world when it was released last year). ) certainly had some great musical moments.
The Ivors also saw a win for John Powell for his movie score on Don’t Worry My Love, Jack Antonoff and Florence + The Machine with “King” for Best Song with Music and Lyrics, and “Escapism” took home Best Contemporary Song. You can find all the winners on the official page @IvorsAcademy Twitter account.
