The God of War Ragnarok is coming! Tomorrow, November 9, you’ll finally be able to return to the Nine Realms with Kratos and Atreus as they prepare for the upcoming battle.
To make sure you can stay active, we’ve put together our list of top ten tips to aid in hero growth! God of War Ragnarök has lots of new features and updates for many of the new features coming back from God of War (2018), so make sure you check them out below!
All devices are legendary
For God of War Ragnarok, we’ve removed our old rarity system when it comes to gear.
Previously, in God of War (2018), most Armor and Weapon Attachments could only be upgraded a few times, so it’s bound to be left behind as you increase your Power Level.
In this title, any gear with a Power Level can be upgraded to Level 9! This opens up a world of possibilities and combinations, allowing for much higher playstyles at any Power Level.
Transmog unlocks at Level 9 equipment
Speaking of the Power Level cap, there’s a surprise waiting for those diligent enough to upgrade their gear to Level 9!
The ability to “switch devices” is one of the most requested features and we are happy to share that in God of War Ragnarök we will have it!
Once your gear reaches Level 9, you’ll be able to apply any skins currently in your inventory. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different pieces because you like the way something looks. Find your dream perk and match it with the look you want when you reach Level 9!
This feature applies to Kratos Core Weapons and Armor.
Don’t be afraid to go astray
The Player Investment Team at Santa Monica Studios is responsible for both Player Development and Exploration content, so we made sure to put some of the best gear in our custom zones to reward Those of you who take the extra time to find out!
Don’t be afraid to say “yes” when you hear the call to explore or you feel like things are getting too difficult. Completing Offers and exploring the Nine Realms is a surefire way to stay ahead.
If you’re the type of player who wants to experience the main story before going back to side quests and exploring, don’t worry! The quest never expires and the discovery content will always be there waiting for you.
Auto Equip
If min/max stats aren’t really your game, we make things simple for you with Auto Equip.
Just press L3 from the Weapons or Armor tab, then select the stat you want to prioritize. Auto-Equip will automatically equip items at the highest Power Level and prioritize selected stats if you have multiple shards of equal level.
Old resources will be sold in the Shop
A note to all you’ve stocked out there – old crafting resources can eventually be purchased in the Shop.

Most of your gear will eventually start looking for an alternative resource to upgrade on your way to Level 9. Around the time you start looking for those new resources, the old ones will appear. appears in the SPECIAL SECTIONS tab under SOURCE in any store.
There’s no need to hoard that precious Wrought Iron if your Main Armor hits the soft cap. Use it as an opportunity to upgrade something else and try something new. You might just love it!
Pay special attention to Labor Skills in your Skill Tree
After you unlock a new Skill, be sure to use it!
If you look closely at the info tab, for many Skills you’ll see a counter that tracks your usage of that Skill.
Keep grinding to upgrade to the Gold Tier and you’ll unlock a Skill Mod Slot that allows you to apply some customization to your favorites. Add enough Skill Mod Tokens to truly become a force to be reckoned with!

XP – it’s not just for Skills
For those of you who have played God of War (2018), you may remember that you can spend XP upgrading your various Runic Attacks.
That feature returns to God of War Ragnarok, but also expands to include Spartan Rage and Relics.

Make sure to navigate to the WEAPONS tab and dive into Runic Attacks, Spartan Rage, and Relics to level up your favorites. Each has two additional levels to unlock!
Make sure to visit Niflheim
Hey, Odin’s Crow is back!
In God of War Ragnarök, we’ve taken important steps to ensure All-Father’s spy hunt is worth the effort, so be sure to visit the Crow Tree in Niflheim at your first chance. .
You can see some feathers familiar to the fifty-one crows that tried to evade Kratos in God of War (2018) on a tree branch to mark the spot. Under the Crow Tree is where you can collect rewards for finding new ravens in the God of War Ragnarök through a set of chests. At certain thresholds, chests will unlock – make sure you check back periodically to see what you’ve earned!
Who knows, maybe even a little something will happen when you find all forty-eight in God of War Ragnarök!
Also, make sure you check out the Training Arena in the same location if you need to perfect your combos!
The Amulet of Yggdrasil: Enchantments and Attunement Bonus
You will no longer stack Enhancements into individual Equip pieces. Instead, you must find the Amulet of Yggdrasil to get the Enchantments in God of War Ragnarök.
To increase the number of slots available, you will have to locate the Jewels of Yggdrasil. Some you will get by playing the main story, but the rest you will find by exploring different areas of the kingdoms.
Many Enchantments have an innate realm. You’ll know which ones these are because they have an area in which they get along with their names, e.g. charms Midgard’s Endurance you guessed the realm, you guessed it, Midgard. If you win three or more slots from the same Kingdom, you’ll unlock Perks that power up with your stats.
All Realm Enchantments offer stat boosts – even if you don’t equip a complete set.
Faerie realms are not necessarily found in realms where they harmonize, so keep an eye out!
Armor Bonus
Most Wrist and Waist Armor shards have Power-Up Perks if you equip both pieces from a matching set. Equip both Wrists and Belts from a single set for more powerful benefits, or choose to mix and match pieces from different sets for more variety.
The choice is yours!
