Lime’s newest e-bike is now available in the US

The biggest update this time is the interchangeable one interchangeable for Gen4 scooters, both saving Lime money and boosting sustainability, in part by reducing the number of rides Lime’s rechargeable vehicles need to make. The latest model also features a more powerful engine than previous generations, a two-speed automatic transmission, a phone holder and an improved handlebar display to match the display on Lime’s scooters. The company says the modular design will increase the usability of the Gen4 e-bike by five years.

Lime said last year it would invest $50 million in Gen4 e-bikes. It aims to start the transition to the latest model last summer. However, unlike some small-scale pilots in the fall, it had to put those plans on hold due to supply chain issues.

The company plans to upgrade the e-bikes in the cities it serves to Gen4 and expand to more cities this year. Currently, 250 Gen4 e-bikes are available in Washington DC. Lime said It plans to replace its entire fleet of 2,500 city e-bikes with Gen4s by April. The new e-bikes will be available in more cities globally this spring, including Atlanta and Charleston .
