DesmoSport Ducati once again shows great speed in ASBK Rnd Two
Bryan Quick Staring in QLD
The Queensland Circuit hosted the second round of the Australian Motorcycling Championship (ASBK) last weekend. DesmoSport Ducati’s Bryan Staring chased Mike Jones on lap one and set a new lap record in the process, but unfortunately a small mistake cost him the chance to win.
Bryan returned to second place in the final game and is now 16 points behind championship leader Mike Jones.
Bryan Staring – The rider
“Obviously it wasn’t the weekend I had planned, falling from a good position after setting a new lap record on lap six, but mistakes still happen and I will learn from them. from this. Mike was really strong out there, and looking back on that day, I was lucky to still be second in the championship. I’ve spent enough time on the bike now that I can comfortably push, and I’ve clearly found my limit this weekend, and for that I have to thank Ben (Henry), Dan (Stauffer) and Byron ( Draper) in particular because of their job to get the bike back for me to race. They did an incredible job. The season has been built to be a battle, with different drivers and manufacturers having won the race, but I’m pretty confident, after two very different laps and racing at the front that We will have a strong season as we continue to develop the Panigale V4 R.”
The group’s co-owner – Ben Henry
“We tried our best and worked hard on our own show to put us in the best possible position. Bryan is from WA, he doesn’t have a home song on our calendar, he hasn’t ridden much in the last year and I’m really impressed with how he and the bike have adapted to the completely different circuits of Phillip Island and the Queensland Circuit. he has up to 13 days riding the Panigale V4 R and he just set a new lap record at the Queensland Circuit along the way, so I’m excited to see what he’s capable of! , he was on top of a class this weekend and we didn’t leave anything on the table.Although we crashed in race one, Bryan pulled in points to keep us in second place. two in the title hunt.”
Team Co-Owner – Troy Bayliss
“Oli and I caught up with the team Friday night on a video call and everyone was so relaxed and confident, which is great to see. Bryan really fits the dynamics of the team and we see that pay off in the way that everyone communicates in the pit box and on the track. Never ideal for collisions, but Bryan is a true racer, and for riders it’s always difficult to make the decision to let the front driver go and tackle. I know he believes he will have something at the end of the race if he can stay there, but I’m sure he will learn from that mistake. I miss not being with the team on race weekends, especially when it’s so cold here and so warm back home, but I’m proud of the work the entire DesmoSport Ducati team is doing right now. now. They are active, methodical, and moving forward every time they ride. “
With the next round of ASBK to be at Wakefield Park, near Goulburn in NSW on April 22-24, the team headed home to relax, before picking up two more of Bryan’s Panigale V4 R superbikes and loading them into the truck. for testing two more days in the first week of April.
