What’s shaping up is the first mass-produced solar electric car—with solar panels integrated into all body panels—that has actually been put to the test. ONE Sono Sion crash test found that the tables “work as expected,” the company said, with no added risk to occupants or bystanders.
And Google claims that their Maps navigation now distinguish between “very fast” chargers of 150 kW or more and other chargers, as part of the built-in Google. As long as Google has all the important data points—an unproven one—that will allow such vehicles to plan trips close to what Tesla has to offer. The tech giant originally announced it would be adding these details in 2018, so it’s far from over.
