Nest retired from racing; Ordered for Mr. Mo


Nest According to owner Mike Repole, the 2022 champion 3-year-old, who was working lightly on his return to racing, has retired from racing. He said she would be raised to Uncle Mo .

But before being sent to Pletcher, a diagnostic test showed “a little abnormality in her rear ankle,” Repole told the Daily Racing Form, which first reported her retirement.

Repole further told DRF that she was transferred and arrived at Lane’s End Farm in Versailles, Ky on May 8.

Her mating plan with Uncle Mo resulted in the creation of a pair of Repole Stable racing champions. Uncle Mo is currently one of the top sires in North America. He has a fee of $150,000 at Ashford Stud, also in Versailles.

Nest is a three-time Grade 1 champion, although defeat in 2022 was also one of her defining moments. Facing the men in the Belmont Stakes (G1), she finished second to her stablemate Mo Donegal with a less than ideal ride that kept her in traffic for much of the race. The Pletcher-trained Mo Donegal captured the Belmont for Donegal Racing and Repole Stable.

In 2022, Nest won the Ashland Stakes (G1), Coaching Club American Oaks (G1) and Alabama Stakes (G1). In total, she earned $2,172,675 from an 8-2-2 record in a 14-race career for owners Repole Stable, Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and Michael House. Exit AP Indy horse Marion Ravenwood she was bred by Ashview Farm and Colts Neck Stables.

Last fall, Repole bought out its partners in Nest for $6 million at the 2023 Fasig-Tipton November Sale.

After a disappointing second half of her 4-year-old season, Repole told BloodHorse last fall that he felt she had “unfinished business.” He hopes she can return to her peak performance as she did earlier in her career.

At 2, Nest has been a consistent leader, including winning the Demoiselle Stakes (G2) in December at Water racetrack. The following year, at 3 years old, during the Eclipse Award season, in addition to the above Grade 1 wins, she won the Suncoast Stakes at Tampa Downs BayBeldame Stakes (G2) at Aqueduct, and was second in the Kentucky Oaks (G1) at Churchill Downs.

At age 4 in 2023, she won the Shuvee Stakes (G2) in July at Saratoga and finished third in the Individual Stakes (G1) at the end of the summer. She then finished fourth in the Spinster Stakes (G1) at Keeneland in October, her connections then skipped her Breeders’ Cup start and instead took her to the November Sale.

“She is a multiple Grade 1 winner, a champion and the most talented filly I have ever owned,” Repole said. “We look forward to racing her foals in the future. She will be a cornerstone mare for Repole Stable.”
