Le Vron James scores at CTBA Winter Sale
Le Vron Jamesa 2-year-old son of great-grandmother Vronsky sold for a session high of $85,000 to lead a significant year-over-year gain on February 1 at the California Purebred Breeders Association Winter Mix at the Fairplex.
There were 113 horses sold for a total of $1,298,407, $11,490 median and $5,200 median. At last winter’s Mixed Sale, 73 units were sold for a total of $575,100, a median of $7,878 and an average of $3,200.
The California-bred Vronsky foal, in addition to Cee’s Tizzy Arousing mare, was bred by Harris Farms and Donald Valpredo and purchased by Dare to Dream, Don Calabria and John Crawford. He previously sold it to Jeff Ganje at the CTBA Northern California Yearling Sale in 2021 for $32,000.
A second close to the topper is Prince Jimia California hybrid of Jimmy Creed get out Tiznow mare Follow a Dream, sold to Super Horse, agent Sweetwater Trading, for $75,000. He was bred by Tony and Carol Busching. The original foal, which went through the Fasig-Tipton California Fall All-Age Sale and Year 2021, failed to sell at $7,000 to shipper Easterbrook Livestock Management.
The highest-priced purchase was a 2-year-old dog, bred by Kentucky. Gunman , in addition to AP Indy mare Mahogany Lane, purchased by Ron Thomsen for $42,000. The unnamed cat was raised by Calumet Ranch and was purchased from their shipment at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearling Sale in 2021 for $10,000 by Newport Steel.
