Lamborghini beats the odds, sets a delivery record in 2021

Lamborghini is one of the luxury automakers to have reported particularly strong sales in 2021 despite the ongoing global pandemic and paralysis. lack of chips. Like Rolls-Royce and sister company Bentley, the Italian company beat the odds by setting an all-time delivery record.

Total annual deliveries reached 8,405 units, up 13% from 2020. Lamborghini’s biggest market remains the United States, where deliveries increase 11% to 2,472 units in 2021. Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao were combined in second place, and delivery sales there jumped 55% to 935 sales. Germany and, somewhat surprisingly, the UK are in third and fourth place respectively. Delivery in Germany increased 16% to 706 and in the UK 9% to 564. Italy, where regulations have traditionally (and ironically) been hostile to cars with large displacement engines, as well as Lamborghini’s bulls: 359 units delivered in 2021, an increase of 3 %.

No one is surprised to know that Urus is the best-selling Lamborghini in 2021. The company has delivered 5,021 units, so the SUV accounts for more than half of the brand’s sales. Second place on the podium is taken by Huracán, with 2,586 deliveries, followed by Aventador, with 798 units delivered. While these numbers may sound trivial in the grand scheme of things, putting them in context tells a different story. Lamborghini is still small, but it used to be a lot smaller: It built exactly 1,999 Countachs during its 17-year production run. It makes more units Aventador (pictured) in 2021 compared to the Miura period from 1966 to 1973.

Another interesting point is that Lamborghini’s total for 2021 seems to include only delivered ones. The company left behind the cars that were sold but not yet delivered, like 112 as planned Countach reincarnated. The coupe was sold out before it was shown to the public.

Lamborghini hopes to keep the momentum going, and company boss Stephan Winkelmann revealed that almost all of its 2022 production capacity has been used up. The company also plans to reveal four new car in 2022, including Aventador’s mysterious successor.
