Bentley says the new Bentayga Odyssean is its ‘most sustainable’ Bentayga yet
Bentley talked about making an all-electric Bentley for years, though that hasn’t happened yet. However, Bentley does produce hybrid cars, like the hybrid version of the Bentayga. On Tuesday, Bentley unveiled what it calls the “most sustainable” Bentayga, the Bentayga Odyssean Edition. I agree that the car is very sustainable, because they will only produce 70 of them.
Some bullet points, via Bentley:
- 3.0 liter V6 Hybrid produces 462PS (456 bhp) with 700 Nm (516lb.ft)
- New 18 kWh battery improves electric-only range to at least 28 miles (45 km) WLTP – for Odyssean and other Bentayga Hybrid models
- Eco-friendly materials including tweed upholstery and Open Pore Koa . veneer
- Exclusive craftsmanship and styling including ombré thêu embroidery
- Three-color interior, unique and characteristic of Odyssean
- Unique 22-inch wheels with Pale Brodgar accents
- Six designs curated with more options from Bentley’s full exterior color palette in over 60 colors, plus a multitude of custom options
- Pale Brodgar accents for exterior lighting complement the natural tones of the six designs
- Open for sale in November, before Q1 production starts
All 28 miles of electric range! Don’t spend it all in one place. Anyway, Bentley’s argument for the “sustainable” hinge is largely based on those interior materials, which is an extremely low bar but I’ll give Bentley some credit for nodding to the concept of sustainability. .
The center console’s hollowed-out Koa board uses 90% less lacquer than high-gloss veneer, while allowing the aesthetic and natural surface texture of the wood to be enjoyed. Selected from only the finest, best-looking woods available, the open plank veneer is painted with just three layers of ultra-thin lacquer, totaling just 0.1 mm in thickness.
The panels and armrests are finished in sleek, minimalist Piano Linen, while the specialized tri-color leather gives the entire interior a new dimension. Along with new materials, sustainable natural leather is widely used throughout the cabin, thanks to its long-term durability.
The cabin also features beautiful hand-crafted tweeds made from 100% British wool, twisting a blend of colors into custom yarns to create a unique natural luxury weave especially for Bentley.
Look closely, as it is very unlikely that you will see this car again. You definitely wouldn’t buy it, because it’s definitely in if-you-ask-you-can’t-buy-it territory. However, it will be a real curiosity 20 years from now, when anyone who owns these things will have to say, “Wow, that was Bentley’s most sustainable Bentayga at the time,” and The room immediately fell asleep.
